APPLICATION GUIDE | SMOOTH

SURFACE PREPARATION

Strong plaster, concrete or brick: 

• Scrape off any loose uneven material with scraper / steel brush

• Open-up cracks and remove any loose material

• High-Pressure wash exterior or remove excess dust with a block brush.
   

Previously painted surfaces: 

• Scrape off flaking, bubbling, uneven material with a scraper / steel brush

• Open up cracks and remove any loose material

• Interior: Wash, then scrub with Sugar Soap and rinse

• Exterior: High Pressure wash.
   

Dry wall / ceilings / gypsum board: 

• Remove dust with damp cloth.

SPREAD RATE

 

Skimming – 1 Kg  (Steel Trowel) 

• Over smooth plaster or paint – 1m2 at 1mm thick (15kg bucket cover 15m2)

• Skim from 500 micron to 3mm per coat
   

Block Brush for waterproofing – 1 Kg (two coats recommended)

• Smooth plaster 3m2 • Bagwash plaster 2m2 • Raw brick 1.5m2 

 

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS (Mix thoroughly and consistently)

 

Mechanical Mixer

• Waterproofing and Plaster Repair: Add 15kg to 6 litres of water (400ml water / kg)

• Skimming Walls & Ceilings: Add 15kg to 7 litres of water (466ml water / kg)

• Block Brush for Waterproofing: Add 15kg to 7 litres of water (466ml water / kg)
   

Note: A hand mix will require more water for the same consistency.
 

LEAVE THE PRODUCT TO STAND FOR 10 MINUTES FOR THE ACRYLICS TO ACTIVATE.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

 

During application you can slowly add water and mix to maintain consistency of product.

 

Steel Trowel Skim

• Easiest option – apply with a 2mm notch trowel & flatten with smooth trowel

• 1 coat from 500 micron to 3mm maximum 

• If applying two coats – allow 1st coat to dry before applying 2nd coat 

• DO NOT OVERWORK THE PRODUCT. Final coat is easily sanded SMOOTH when dry.
   

Block Brush for waterproofing

• Two coats recommended – slowly mix in a bit more water if necessary

• Allow 1st coat to dry for 6 – 8 hours before applying 2nd coat.

​Do not apply on exterior if rain is expected within 6 hours.
